Phoenixville Public Library will offer a free “Adult Hands-Only CPR Training” on Monday, January 12, 6:30 PM at the Library. Certified American Red Cross Instructor Glenn Jones will lead the session. Join us for this short, interactive session with the American Red Cross where you’ll learn Hands-Only CPR, a simple and effective way to help someone in cardiac arrest. This method focuses on chest compressions without mouth-to-mouth breaths, making it easy for anyone to perform while waiting for emergency responders. This is not a certification course, but a valuable learning opportunity to gain life-saving knowledge and confidence. You will learn how to recognize cardiac arrest, call for help, and start compressions that can double or even triple a person’s chance of survival. This event is free and open to the public. Meet Jon Ichter.&ldquo;We have to bridge the gap between community and law enforcement.&rdquo; 
&mdash; Bobby F. Kimbrough Jr.
While serving as a Phoenixville borough council member, Jon wasn&rsquo;t quite sure what to expect when he asked to ride along with Phoenixville police. 
Immediately, he saw how hard officers work; over time, he noticed how rarely that effort led to real connections with the community. He came away with a question: How do we bring cops and community closer together?
His answer is Police with Purpose, the nonprofit he founded that provides fundraising and administrative support to Shop with a Cop, an event where local kids, many facing a tough season, each get money to spend at a store alongside an officer.
During one Shop with a Cop event, Jon recalls a young man who, after being given $200 to spend, turned to the officer and asked if he could use it to buy gifts for his family. Who wouldn&rsquo;t be moved, right? Moments like that are the bricks in the bridge between police and the community.
As our Unsung Hero for January, Jon will receive a complimentary massage from PressurePerfect Massage&mdash;a small token of appreciation for his tireless work and dedication to making Phoenixville a stronger, more vibrant community.

Children's Scholarship Fund Philadelphia (CSFP)

Children’s Scholarship Fund Philadelphia (CSFP) changes lives by providing scholarship funding for Philadelphia families to choose a tuition-based school that meets their student’s educational needs. CSFP is the largest and most diverse provider of K-8th scholarship support in Pennsylvania, focusing on the highest-need students in the lowest-achieving schools in the city. During the 2025-26 school year, CSFP awarded more than 6,800 scholarships for K-8th grade students enrolled at nearly 150 area tuition-based schools.
