Country Shop Owner Has a Mind for Business and a Heart for the Community
Meet a Phoenixville woman whose business is doing well by doing good.

Last Friday when shops and restaurants were drawing people to the center of Phoenixville, Country Charm Furnishings and five other businesses along Main Street were offering customers a chance to not only shop, but to do something good for the community.
Country Charm owner Stephanie Wenitsky requested that a table for Mom's House be set up right in front of her shop. Mom's House provide free daycare services for young mothers who are full time students. It gives young mothers a way to go to school and/or work while making sure their children are safe and well cared for while the moms attend school and work.
Wenitsky has been a leader in getting the word out about the shops along South Main Street. (Country Charm is at 28 South Main). She joined forces with LuLu Boutique, Salon Fiber, Best Friends, The Design Grove and Generations to donate ten percent of their shops' combined profits to help Mom's House.

In April Wenitsky and other Main Street shop owners offered a Ladies Night with prizes for shoppers who got special cards stamped at all the participating merchants on a Thursday night. More of those are planned for later in the year.
For Wenitsky being a good neighbor is good business. "and it's fun, " she tells Patch. "As business owners you have to be a little creative with getting people to come into your businesses. Some have it easier depending on what it is that they offer. “Retail has suffered a little bit (in recent years) so when you get people together with like-minded then it all comes together pretty nicely, at least when you try to do something fun and draw people."

At Country Charm Furnishings you can buy furnishing and decorations from stock but you can also get custom furnishings designed, sized, stained or painted to meet your home's needs.
The shop has a comfortable, casual feel, more like a visiting a friend's country home than going into a huge retail store. Wenitsky says that's the feel among many business owners in the Main Street business community. "We get along really nicely and we're all friends. Our kids are even friends. So yeah, it's worked out really well."
