Easttown Supervisors Award Berwyn Fire Company $184,276 Grant

The grant will be used to replace the 93-year-old station on Bridge Street and a new substation.

EASTTOWN, PA— Easttown supervisors allocated $184,276 provided to the township by the American Rescue Plan Act to the Berwyn Fire Co. for its ongoing infrastructure project.

The volunteers and career staff of the Berwyn Fire Company said in a statement that they are appreciative of the Easttown supervisors for making public safety a priority in their disbursement of these funds.

The infrastructure project calls for replacing the existing station at 23 Bridge Ave. and building a new substation on a 6.3-acre property at 1485 Valley Forge Road.

The $8 million project also includes constructing a permanent substation in Tredyffrin Township to replace a temporary substation near the Gateway Shopping Center.

The fire company provides services to both Tredyffrin and Easttown township. Tredyffrin Township has a population of 29,461 and Easttown has a population of 10,646.

Its combined 70 volunteers, 10 full-time employees, and 28 part-time employees respond to more than 2,150 ambulance calls and 900 fire calls annually.

In July, Tredyffrin supervisors authorized the purchase of a 6.3-acre property at 1485 Valley Forge Road to construct a substation.

The new firehousein Berwyn will feature four apparatus bays, four private bedrooms and bathrooms, a common bedroom, and a laundry room.

In addition, it will have a kitchen, fitness room, office space, radio room, emergency management coordination room, and additional storage space.
