Firefighters Battle Blaze That Severely Damaged Phoenixville Condos
The fire is believed to be accidental and the exact cause is under investigation by the Chester County fire marshal's office.
PHOENIXVILLE, PA - Firefighters battled a two-alarm blaze Friday afternoon that severely damaged Westridge complex off Mowere and Township Line roads, officials said Saturday.
The fire broke out at 4:05 p.m. in the rear of the two-story, 10 condominium complex, and was under control within 45 minutes.
Phoenixville Fire Chief Eamon Brazunas said the fire is believed to be accidental, and the exact cause is under investigation by the Chester County fire marshal’s office.

Several pets were rescued and two firefighters were treated for dehydration. None of the residents were injured in the fire.
The chief said the majority of the residents were home and were able to get out of the building quickly.

He said the residents were relocated safely with the help of the borough’s emergency manager.
A damage estimate was not available.
According to fire officials:
- When Brazunas arrived on the scene at 4:04 p.m., he saw black smoke billowing out of the rear of the complex and called for a second alarm, dispatching additional resources.
- PECO was notified to turn-off the power.
- Firefighters remained on the scene for three and half hours.
- Limerick and Ludwigs Corner fire companies transferred an engine and ladder to assist with any emergencies.
- Berwyn, Black Rock, Kimberton, Royersford, Liberty and West End #3 fire companies, Upper Providence Township Fire & Emergency Services, Chester County Emergency Services, and Freedom Valley Medical Rescue provided services.
