OLEY, PA —Looking to celebrate autumn by going to a real country fair?

The 75th annual Oley Valley Community Fair, 26 Jefferson St., Oley, Berks County is a short drive from most of Chester and Montgomery counties.

The fair is known for its French fries, hamburgers, fresh ice cream, displays of farm animals and produce, entertainment, crafts, carnival rides, music, and a car show.

One of the highlights is a display of gigantic pumpkins and gourds.

This year’s theme is “Yankee Doodle Went to Oley.”

The fair began following World War II in October 1947, when there was a need to unite the community through a special project.

The fair helps raise funds for the high school senior class trip. Hundreds of volunteers, including high school seniors, plan and staff the fair.

The fair provides the community with the opportunity to showcase their best produce, farm animals, food and crafts.

The fair is open from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m. Thursday and Friday, and 9 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.Saturday.
