Musicians Needed to Memorialize Phoenixville Teacher
Current and former students of Shelly Sobel will take the stage for a special concert to honor the legacy of the beloved teacher.

The Phoenixville Area School District suffered a great loss last week when one of its beloved teachers died following a long battle with cancer.
Rebecca Michelle Sobel, or “Shelly,” taught at the high school for 15 years, where she impacted the lives of students on a daily basis. She passed away April 13, leaving behind a husband and two college-aged children
“She was a very special teacher,” says her obituary, “blessed with gifts of love, patience, and a willingness to listen to those who brought their problems to her.”

Sobel’s legacy will be celebrated by the school community on May 13 with a memorial concert at the Phoenixville Area Middle School auditorium at 6:30 p.m. Justin McAdams, musical director for the Phoenixville Area High School band, is organizing the service and asks for former and current students who performed on the bands, and staff members who can play an instrument, to participate. He asks that those interested in taking part sign up before May 3.
“Once you register, you will be sent a link to download copies of the music. Please print it out and make sure you’re ready to go for the 13,” says the notice.
