National Park Service to Rent Out Valley Forge Buildings

The National Park Service plans to lease out some of the historic buildings at Valley Forge National Historical Park.

The NPS has put out requests for proposals to lease the historic Philander Chase Knox house; the historic Kennedy Supplee mansion; and the historic Maurice Stephens house.

The Kennedy Supplee mansion was built in 1852 and is on Route 23. Among the possible uses are as a restaurant, catering establishment, special event and/or conference center; as an inn, a bed and breakfast or as professional offices, the NPS said. A lease term of 10 to 50 years is required.

The Maurice Stephens house was built in 1816 and is on Route 23 across from Washington Memorial Chapel, the NPS said. Among the possible uses of are a restaurant or cafe, an art center, a community center or as professional offices, and a lease term of 10 or more years is required.

The RFP for the The Philander Chase Knox house on Yellow Springs Road already has passed, the NPS said.
