PASD Finalizes All-Virtual Reopening Decision

Students in PASD will be issued technology to participate in online classes as school starts again.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA — The Phoenixville Area School District Board of Directors voted Thursday night in favor of returning to school in an all-virtual format.

At the Aug. 6 PASD Board Meeting via Zoom, the Board of School Directors approved the instructional model as students begin the 2020-21 school year. The school district committed to making sure every student has a laptop computer or other device to use at home and when students return to school for in-person instruction.

PASD asked parent to help them identify children's use of devices. Student may use their own or a district-approved device, the school district announced Friday. Families should let the district know their device preference or need by registering at the Skyward Family Access site.

The district spent weeks collecting input and comments from parents and reviewing public health guidance from the CDC and the Chester County Health Department before recommending any options.

The virtual learning model includes synchronous class sessions with real-time instruction and breaks. Schedules will vary depending on grade level.
