Phoenixville Country Club Ex-Employees Get Probation In $147K Theft
Amy Clark and Grace Crossen pleaded guilty in December to stealing more than $147,000 from the Schuylkill Township country club.

PHOENIXVILLE, PA —Two former employees of the Phoenixville Country Club were sentenced to five years of probation each for stealing $147,207 from the club for personal expenses including vacations, according to court records available Friday.
Amy Clark, 51, Royersford, and Grace Crossen, 52, East Goshen, pleaded guilty in December 2021 before Chester County Judge Allison Bell to theft and related charges.
Clark, an assistant manager, and Grossen, a bookkeeper, resigned July 1, 2018, according to Schuylkill Township police.

The club’s former manager, Anthony Lucas, 58, of Newark, Del., was sentenced in June to one to 23 months in Chester County Prison followed by three years of probation after pleading guilty to theft in the scheme.
Lucas was ordered to pay $147,207 in restitution to the Phoenixville Country Club, 355 Country Club Road, Schuylkill Township.

According to prosecutors:
- Lucas conspired with his co-defendants to steal money between January 2017 and May 2018.
- The three cashed either unauthorized checks or checks for amounts greater than authorized and split the proceeds.
- Schuylkill Township police became aware of the theft on May 3, 2018, after the country club officials reported suspicious bank transactions.
- Police said Lucas wrote and signed checks that his co-defendants either cashed or deposited for him.
