Phoenixville Ranks #63 of 495 Schools in Pennsylvania

PHOENIXVILLE, PA —Phoenixville Area School District ranked number #63 out of 495 school districts in Pennsylvania, according to the 2023 rankings provided recently by Niche, an educational platform, headquartered in Pittsburgh.

The district consists of Phoenixville Area High School a middle school, and four elementary schools. The district has 4,001 students.

According to the state test scores, 55% of the students are at least proficient in math and 76% in reading.

The district offers AP classes and gifted programs.

Niche said in a 2023 report that the rankings were created to provide families with valuable information — both quantitative and qualitative — on schools in their area or in a neighborhood they’re not familiar with yet.

The district earned an A in academics, teachers, and college prep. The district received an A-in clubs and activities and a B+ in sports, food, diversity and administration.

Phoenixville earned a C in resources and facilities.

In a statement to the public, the district stated its mission: "To prepare, inspire and graduate students to meet the challenges of the future, while we grow to become the educational hub of the community.

"We believe that it is our moral imperative to remove any roadblocks and open all doors of opportunities in order to achieve equitable outcomes for all students."

Niche said its rankings differ from others that rely almost exclusively on test scores and academic performance in that it also includes input from students, alumni and parents, as well as quantitative data from sources such as the U.S. Department of Education to evaluate teachers, resources and facilities.
