Phoenixville Stylist Highlights Main Line Fashion Week

Salon Fiber has been tapped to style the hair for models during Main Line Fashion Week's first runway show.

The clothes and accessories are usually the stars during Main Line Fashion Week, but Phoenixville stylist Maura Mulligan knows that a head-turning look would not be complete without the perfect hairstyle.

“We want to accent the clothing and have a good balance,” said Mulligan. “But we also want to show off some of the spring hair trends and create some styles that are a little more dramatic.”

Mulligan and her team of eight stylists from Salon Fiber in Phoenixville will be backstage Tuesday at the first of two runway shows at the Grace Winery at Sweetwater Farm in Glen Mills, getting each of the 10 models ready to show off the season’s latest offerings from fashion boutiques located in the western suburbs of Philadelphia. It’s the first time Mulligan has participated in the show, and she is anxious to show her stuff.

“There’s a lot more creative license at the fashion show,” said Mulligan. “We can get a little more avant-garde with the models than we can with our regular day-to-day customers.”

Main Line Fashion Week kicked off Monday with a style panel and workshop featuring local fashion designers such as Jennifer Risk of Belladwella Interiors in Wayne and Thais Da Silva of Dia Doce in West Chester. Tuesday’s runway show begins at 6 p.m. and will feature styles from shopes including Revivals Boutiques in Narberth, Barring Eyewear in Philadelphia and Posh Collections in Malvern.

Wednesday’s show will feature an appearance by Miss Philadelphia 2015 Julia Rae and highlight spring fashions from Nich Boutique in West Chester, Pretty Pretty Rebel in Philadelphia and La Chic Boutique in Chester Springs. The week ends with a Fitness in Fashion show by Athlete of King of Prussia and a workout at the winery led by instructors from barre3 in Berwyn on Thursday and a chance for guests to browse through the fashion at pop-up shops Friday night.

Founded by public relations specialist Patricia Mae Maristch, Main Line Fashion Week was created to support local businesses and celebrate the style of the Main Line and Philadelphia’s western suburbs. Tickets for Main Line’s most stylish week range from $10 to $140, and options include a daily and weekly pass.
