PNK Pets Granted Conditional Use by Borough
It's unclear if the do-it-yourself pet wash has been operating illegally.

The strange saga of continues.
Though the borough council didn’t come to agreement on whether or not Hedi Kaminsky’s dog washing business has been operating illegally out of its High Street location for the past 18 months, it did unanimously grant the owner modified conditional use at its regular meeting on July 10.
According to a report in The Mercury, the do-it-yourself dog wash that’s classified as a “home operated businesses” stands in violation of two of the borough’s codes for such businesses: Kaminsky doesn’t live there and the residential space takes up greater than 25 percent of the unit's ground floor.

PNK’s conditional use is contingent on getting the building up to code in these two areas.
While Kaminsky responds to the first charge by countering that she keeps a bed in the basement, the second will be difficult to satisfy. Both adjustments could be obviated, however, by receiving a variance from the borough.

But while the council approved conditional use, granting PNK 12 months to get its building in accordance with code, Kaminsky will, by the letter of the law, not be allowed to conduct business in this period. She said, contrary to most of the testimony, that she hasn’t been running a business.
“I’m not operating illegally because I’m not operating,” Kaminsky said.
