School District Reaches Deal for Property Deed
The deal allows the Phoenixville School District to acquire one of the lots for the learning center project without paying transfer taxes.

The pieces are falling into place for the Phoenixville Area School District’s plans to build a new early learning center and elementary school.
A deal has been reached with the owners of a property on Pothouse Road that allows the district to acquire the land needed for the project without paying transfer taxes, according to the Daily Local News. A unanimous, 5-0 vote at the school board meeting in Thursday accepted the deed in lieu of condemnation, the report says. The deal finalizes a sale agreement reached between the two parties in September.
Rising capacities at the existing elementary schools prompted the district to come up with the plan to construct a combined early learning center and elementary school on the site of the former Meadow Brook Golf Club. The new building will allow for the closure of the kindergarten center on School Lane and East Pikeland Elementary on Hares Hill Road.
