Tax Rate Hike In Phoenixville Is On Council Agenda Tuesday Night
The Phoenixville Borough Council on Tuesday night may approve a proposed budget and property tax rate increase.
PHOENIXVILLE, PA — Phoenixville Borough's real estate tax rate is set to increase by 1.07 mills in Tuesday night's borough council meeting.
The borough's 2020 real estate tax rate of 6.23 mills will increase to 7.3 mills if the budget and tax proposals are approved.
In dollars, a rate of 6.23 mills means property owners pay $623 per $100,000 in assessed property value. The increase to a 7.3 millage rate would translate to $730 per $100,000 in assessed property value, increasing property taxes by $107 next year, for every $100,000 in assessed value of an owner's property.

Phoenixville Borough Council meets Tuesday night at 7 p.m. The meeting will be livestreamed here. The meeting agenda calls for a public hearing on the real estate tax millage rate and consideration of approval of the proposed rate.
The 7.3-mill increase will be dispensed in three areas. General purposes will account for 4.76 mills; fire protection will account for 1.32 mills; and parks and recreation will account for 1.21 mills.

In Tuesday's virtual meeting Dr. Louis Beccaria, retired President of the Phoenixville Community Health Foundation, will present three Beautification Advisory Commission Awards.
The borough is also issuing a call for residents who are interested in appointments to various boards and commissions in Phoenixville.
