Three Car Accident Causes Tuesday Turnpike Congestion

The crash occurred on the eastbound side of the Pennsylvania Turnpike near Valley Forge during the Tuesday morning commute.

A three-car accident on the Pennsylvania Turnpike had the left lane blocked on the eastbound side for approximately 20 minutes during Tuesday‘s morning commute, according to a spokesperson from the Turnpike Commission.

The accident occurred at about 8:08 a.m., according to Mimi Doyle, public information manager for the commission, with two of the vehicles blocking the left lane at mile marker 323. The scene was cleared and lanes reopened within 20 minutes, but residual traffic back-ups lasted until 9:17 a.m., Doyle said.

“The backlog went as far back as Downingtown,” said Doyle. “The good news is that there were no injuries.”
