'Cow Plops' To Job Recruitment

Five Things You Need To Know Today: Pottstown and surrounding areas will host a variety of interesting and helpful activities.

• The Pottstown Trojans Touchdown Club will host its 4th Cow Chip Event from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at the Pottstown High School Football Field. A $1 donation will be accepted at the gate to help raise money for the American Cancer Society Relay For Life. According to Pottstown School District Director of Community Relations John J. Armato, deeds cost $20 for a chance to win $1,000 "if the cow plops in your box." Deeds may be purchased from any PHS football player. "This year in addition to the famous Sally the cow we will have a high school powder puff game and a PAL football future starts under the lights game and will be entertained by the high school band and cheerleaders," Armato said.

• Creative MontCo, a new civic initiative to better meet the county's cultural needs, will host a town hall meeting from 8:30 a.m. to noon Oct. 4 at the . The event is free but registration is required. Keynote speaker will be Bob Lynch, president and CEO of Americans for the Arts -- a national arts advocacy group. The event will encourage public input. 

•  Penn State Extension – Montgomery County , will offer Dining with Diabetes: A Program for Adults with Diabetes and Their Families. •  will hold its annual Fall Career Expo from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Oct. 26 in the South Hall Community Room, 101 College Drive, Pottstown. More than 50 area employers will be available to recruit for part-time, full-time, temporary and seasonal employment, as well as for internships.
