Officer Shot After Standoff In Pottstown: Police
A police officer was shot Sunday night following an incident which began with a car crash, authorities said.

POTTSTOWN, PA — A police officer was shot and injured and a suspect was killed in Pottstown during a pursuit and barricade incident Sunday, police said.
The incident began after a two-vehicle crash on Beech Street and North Mount Vernon Street at 5:06 p.m.
It's not yet clear what occurred next, but police said that a "struggle" began at the scene between one of the passengers in the vehicle and officers. Eventually, the passenger got his hands on a gun inside the vehicle and then fled the scene on foot, officials said.

He reached his home on Winding Road and then began firing at officers, striking one in the shoulder, according to police.
A shelter in place was announced for the neighborhood and law enforcement swarmed the area.

Police initially said they returned fire but did not strike the man. However, the suspect was in fact shot and killed by around 10:45 p.m., the DA's office later confirme.d
The officer who was shot is being treated and is in stable condition.
An investigation remains underway.
The suspect has not yet been publicly identified by police. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
