One Killed, One Injured In Sunday Night Shooting In Montco

POTTSTOWN, PA — A 25-year-old borough man was shot dead during an incident in this western Montgomery County community Sunday night, and authorities are trying to track down leads to apprehend the individual or individuals responsible for the shooting.

Pottstown Police responded to a shots-fired call a little after 10 p.m. Sunday and officers arrived on scene to find blood stains and several fired cartridge casings along Grant Street at Union Alley, according to county prosecutors.

Just moments after being dispatched to the shooting location, police were made aware of two shooting victims who turned up by private vehicle at Pottstown Hospital, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office stated.

Rome, who had suffered a gunshot wound to the chest, was pronounced dead by an emergency room physician, the DA's office stated, while the other victim, an unnamed 17-year-old male, was treated for a gunshot wound to the hand and subsequently released.

Forensic pathologist Khalil Wardak, from the Montgomery County Coroner's Office, determined the cause of death to be a gunshot wound to the chest and the manner of death to be homicide.
