Partnerships Save 'Valuable Taxpayer Dollars'
Over 60 local volunteers participated in the Day of Caring sponsored by the United Way of Southeast Pennsylvania.

The Pottstown School District and community taxpayers benefited from the teamwork which was the result of a partnership of volunteers from the Vanguard Investment Corporation, Pottstown High School Key Club and Student Government representatives, and students and staff of The Hill School.
The group of over 60 volunteers participated in the Day of Caring sponsored by the United Way of Southeast Pennsylvania.

Both young and old gave up the pleasure of sleeping in late on a Saturday morning for the satisfaction that comes from working side-by-side with others for a worthy cause.
The day’s projects included painting of the Pottstown High School fitness room, painting of outside railings and doors, and a fresh coat of paint for the ticket booth in the high school lobby which will soon be converted into a student bank that is a result of a partnership with the school district and TriCounty Area Federal Credit Union.

Vanguard Project Leader and Pottstown High School graduate Lisa Baglivio said Vanguard crew members believe they have a responsibility to give back to our community.
Project Sponsor Brian Donadio of Vanguard said the Vanguard Corporate philosophy includes a strong component of community involvement and commitment.
Mr. Dennis Arms, Key Club Sponsor, helped to direct students in the various painting projects.
New to this year’s partnership was The Hill School students and staff who brought a fresh enthusiasm and energy that helped to ensure that all of the day’s projects were completed.
Mr. Barry Angstadt, Pottstown School District Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds, was not only instrumental in helping to organize the event but was a hands-on participant in the day-long activities.
Vanguard and United Way of Southeast Pennsylvania are no strangers to the Pottstown School District. Over the past six years they have sponsored numerous Days of Caring and participated in painting and landscaping projects, renovations, cleaning projects, and computer repair and inventory projects.
Partnerships such as these help to save valuable taxpayer dollars while completing much needed school district projects.
The adults and young people today served as role models and have done their part to ensure that our community moves forward in a positive fashion.
