'People Are Still Paying Attention'
Pottstown's Open Doors on Saturday united the community and paid tribute to emergency responders and military members on the eve of the 9/11 anniversary.
Despite headlines splashed across news websites, TV broadcasts and Twitter that warned of a terror threat to the U.S., Chris Romanoski was pleased to see folks in Pottstown on Saturday show support for U.S. military members and emergency responders.
Romanoski, a local U.S. Army Reserve Recruiter, was in the borough to celebrate Pottstown's Open Doors. The event included area businesses, community organizations, government and emergency officials.
While the nation approached the 10-year anniversary of the Sept., 11, 2001 terror attacks, Romanoski said he was pleased folks continue to honor those lost in the tragedy.

It was also good people didn't let threats of more terror stop them from going about their lives and showing support for U.S. troops and emergency responders, he said.
"I enlisted right before Sept. 11," he said and added he was later deployed to Iraq. "It ... changed everything for me."

Today, folks need to remember the significance of the anniversary.
"Sept. 11 just is a reminder that the whole world can change in a minute," he said.
"The tributes are a great thing -- 10 years later and people are still paying attention."
