Pottstown Cheesesteak Joint Turning Heads Round The Nation
The best steak in Philly might just be a food truck on the corner of a highway 40 miles northwest of south Philly.
POTTSTOWN, PA — Vehicles driving down Route 100 may have noticed an unusual sight in recent weeks: a long, ever growing line shooting out from a small black food truck, hardy cheesesteak devotees who turn up in all weathers for a taste of something spectacular.
Such are the reviews for the Philly region's emergent cheesesteak joint: Gazzo's Steaks, which currently operates out of a truck near the intersection of State Street and Route 100 but is adding a restaurant on High Street in the coming weeks.
The eatery brings authentic south Philly style to the western suburbs. It's the product of brothers in law Joe Lewis and Mike Lamson, whose families have each owned multiple restaurants in the city.

"Both families have generational roots deep in South Philly," the pair explained. "Many family members are active Mummers and participate in the globally known Mummers Day Parade, still to this day. Joe and Mike are no strangers to authentic 'city food.'"
Gazzo's operates on a limited supply daily. Very often, the shop will post a countdown in the early afternoon indicating how many rolls they have left for the day: twenty, thirty, sixty, quickly runs to zero as word spreads.

They operate an online store as well, and have thus far shipped to 29 states. But it's the locals who are hailing it as the best Philly cheesesteak on the planet, particularly the flagship "Sanatoga" steak. Other favorites are "The Mick," a cheesesteak take on the Big Mac, and a cooper sharp cheesesteak.
Once the High Street eatery opens, the food truck is slated to move to downtown Phoenixville, where Gazzo's is partnering with the area's newest brewery, Twelve78.
The truck is located by Royal Customs at the Route 100 and N. State Street intersection.
