Pottstown Gets $213,000 To Improve Steel River Station
The funding comes from a state project to improve historic downtowns and main streets around the state.
POTTSTOWN, PA — Pottstown has received a major investment from the state to improve Pottstown's Steel River Station of the Colebrookdale Railroad.
The $213,646 grant on the station's "safety, security, and connectivity" project is part of a larger statement initiative in improving downtown main street districts around the state.
Altogether, the state announced $20 million in investments in 81 projects in an effort to "revitalize downtowns, support small businesses, and strengthen local economies," state officials said.

The station is in Memorial Park in Pottstown, near Pottstown Carousel and Pottsgrove Manor.
"By restoring this Civil War-era treasure, we’re revitalizing local economies, creating jobs, and establishing an 'anchor tenant' that drives tourism and business investment," Colebrookdale Railroad says.

It's the only project in Montgomery County to receive funding.
