Pottstown High Rise Catches Fire, Residents Evacuated
Drivers and local residents were asked to avoid the area, and several people were hospitalized.

POTTSTOWN, PA — A major fire broke out at an apartment building Pottstown on Thursday morning, leading to evacuations of residents and multiple injuries, authorities said.
The incident occurred at the Robert P. Smith Towers apartment community on 501 E. High Street at around 6:05 a.m.
The fire was traced to the fifth floor of the building, and firefighters immediately began search and rescue procedures for residents in the area.

Five residents suffered various injuries, including smoke inhalation, and were transported to the hospital for further treatment.
The cause of the fire is not yet clear is under investigation by the Pennsylvania State Police Fire Marshal and the Pottstown Borough Fire Marshal’s Office.
