Pottstown Students Raise $500 For Charity

The highlight of a recent fund-raising event was the second annual Powder Puff Football Game.

From Pottstown School District Director of Community Relations John J. Armato:

Students and staff at Pottstown High School recently combined the excitement of an old-fashioned pep rally with a little something for everybody including powder puff football, pep band and cheerleaders, PAL flag football and cow chip bingo with the help of Sterling the Cow.

The night’s events created a great deal of enthusiasm and family fun. It also raised $500 to be donated to Relay For Life and cancer research and supported the efforts of the Pottstown Touchdown Club.

The highlight of the evening was the second annual Powder Puff Football Game which saw the “Dream Team” comprised of female members of the sophomore and senior classes take on the “Victoria’s  Swag Team” of freshmen and juniors.

The girls, who definitely displayed a competitive attitude, played to a hard fought 18-18 tie.

Acting as officials in the hotly contested event were former standout football player Jeff Endy, who is presently attending Ursinus College, assisted by high school teacher Dave Woodley and high school football coach Brett Myers.
