POTTSTOWN, PA — The body of a man was found in the Schuylkill River in Montgomery County amidst an ongoing search for a missing fisherman, according to 6ABC and WFMZ.

Police have not yet made a public statement and the man’s identity has not yet been released.

Police were searching the Schuylkill River near Pottstown after a fisherman went missing late Sunday, according to authorities and media reports.

The 26-year-old man, who has not yet been identified, was fishing off his small canoe with another man when the boat capsized at around 8 p.m., 6ABC and KYW.

The other man was able to safely reach shore, but authorities said have not been able to locate the second man.

Crews searched near the S. Keim Street bridge area throughout the night, with local residents reporting heavy activity both on the river and from a helicopter searching from the air.

Current search operations are focused on finding a body, as opposed to rescuing a victim, authorities said.
