Unclaimed Property & SEPTA Key Card Senior Event In Montco Tuesday
The program, geared toward senior citizens in western Montgomery County district, will be at the Pottstown Library.

POTTSTOWN, PA — Western Montgomery County Democratic State Rep. Joe Ciresi will be hosting an event Tuesday afternoon geared toward educating senior citizens about unclaimed property and mass transit passes.
The event, which will spotlight unclaimed property matters and SEPTA Key Cards for older residents, will take place from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the Pottstown Regional Public Library.
Staff from the legislator's office will be on hand to process applications for seniors looking to obtain SEPTA Key Cards and to check whether individuals have any unclaimed property, and if so, help them complete the claim forms needed to recover.

"The PA treasury holds billions of dollars in unclaimed property," Ciresi said in a statement. "It is important that people in our community are aware of this and receive the money they are possibly owed."
The Pennsylvania Treasury says that 1 in 10 Pennsylvania residents have unclaimed property, which can go missing because of small errors like a misspelled name or out-of-date address.

Ciresi's office staff can help navigate the process to recover unclaimed property for older residents who might otherwise not be sure where to turn.
Legislative staffers will also be on hand to help seniors obtain SEPTA senior Key Cards, which will allow anyone 65 years of age and older to ride SEPTA transit routes completely free of charge.
This includes buses, trolleys, subways, the regional rail system and the Norristown High Speed Line within Pennsylvania.
Additionally, discounted rates are offered for seniors who travel along the regional rail system to Delaware and New Jersey.
"The SEPTA Senior Key card is a great benefit that our seniors can enjoy, letting them travel SEPTA's network with ease," Ciresi stated. "I'm glad that my office can make applying for these cards more accessible and convenient to seniors in western Montgomery County through our partnership with SEPTA."
