Woman Throws Child Into Stairs, Admits Guilt in Child Endangerment Charge

A Pottstown woman to face jail time for allegedly assaulting her 2-year-old daughter.

According to the Pottstown Mercury, Briana Marie Brown, 22, formerly of Pottstown (now of Philadelphia) admitted she was guilty of child endangerment charges after a Pottstown Police officer witnessed her crimes on West King Street in April 2012.

In an arrest affidavit, Pottstown Police Sgt. Thomas McCloy alleged Brown threw a small child into a set of stairs, and then beat her.

"I then observed the female hold down the child and begin to strike her multiple times (five to six times) on the chest and stomach," said McCloy.

Brown will face two-and-a-half to five years of prison time, in addition to undergoing a drug and alcohol evaluation as part of the presentencing process, according to the report.
