Radnor Township Sponsoring Alternatives To Trick-Or-Treating
Trick-or-treats in Radnor Township is not named directly among 'high-risk traditional activities,' but the township offers 3 alternatives.
RADNOR TOWNSHIP, PA — Radnor Township is offering alternatives to trick-or-treating, as it advises against "high-risk traditional activities."
"Many of the traditional activities of Halloween can be high risk for spreading viruses. There are several safer and alternative ways to celebrate Halloween," Radnor Township Office of Emergency Management told the township community in an Oct. 1 public notice.
The Radnor Township Office of Emergency Management provided current guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and alternative activities, without expressly forbidding trick-or-treating.

"As we have throughout the Governor's Emergency Declaration for COVID-19, we will continue to leverage expert resources like the CDC and the Pennsylvania Department of Health to keep you updated on safe and healthy practices during the pandemic," the notice said.
"The CDC is recommending that we remain diligent in our mitigation efforts to prevent the spread of the virus that causes COVID-19 and to consider these strategies when planning holiday events," said the Emergency Management Department's notice.

The township has posted three events for Halloween. Two are virtual; a costume contest and a pumpkin carving contest, both open for entries until 11 p.m. Oct. 31.
On Oct. 25, Radnor Township's Recreation and Community Programming is also sponsoring a "Spooktacular Park and Trail Hunt" at the Willows, between 10 a.m. and noon.
"Halloween is fast approaching, and it serves as an opportunity to make safe choices and to enjoy the fun," the township said.

Radnor Township Emergency Management also stated that anyone with COVID-19 or who has been exposed to someone with COVID-19, should not participate in any in-person Halloween festivities and should not give out candy to trick-or-treaters.
"As a township we are continuously monitoring guidance to encourage the safety of our residents and businesses. We will update our website as new guidance becomes available," the notice said.
