Stormwater Management Ordinance In Radnor, Effective Thursday, Oct. 13

The new ordinance is designed to provide improved problems with stormwater runoff during rainstorms.

RADNOR, PA —The Radnor Township Board of Commissioners adopted a Stormwater `Management, effective Thursday, Oct 13.

To continue to protect Radnor Township residents now and in the future, in some cases the new ordinance is more stringent than the previous ordinance.

Overall, the new ordinance provides a more simplified stormwater management system that allows residents to have more choices.

The purpose of the new ordinance is to minimize problems with stormwater runoff and utilize natural drainage systems as much as possible, provide proper drainage.

Some of the changes include:

  • A deck with spaces between boards will no longer require a grading permit, just a building permit.
  • A permit is required for 500 to 1,000 square feet of areas that allow water to pass through. Previously, the requirement was to 500 to 1,500.
  • Stormwater runoff areas in hotspots including junkyards, vehicle storage yard, industrial sites, and contaminated sites will be pretreated to prevent pollution runoff.
  • The township engineer or a designated individual will inspect all phases of installation of permanent stormwater management facilities.
  • The stormwater plan also addresses how to mitigate mosquitoes.
