Suspect Gets Stuck In Drain In Radnor While Eluding Police: Chief Says

The man was rescued by a Mongtomery County Special Task Force and taken to Lankenau Medical Center for treatment.

RADNOR TWP, PA — A suspect wanted for shoplifting at a CVS store in Lower Merion Township was rescued after he got stuck in a drain pipe attempting to elude police, Radnor police said Monday.

The suspect was located at 4:30 p.m. under a storm drain beneath Conestoga Road at Locust Grove Terrace in the Bryn Mawr section of Radnor Township.

By 6:30 p.m.. the suspect was removed from the drain and taken to Lankenau Medical Center, Wynnewood, for treatment.

at the CVS Pharmacy on Lancaster Avenue in Lower Merion township, on the border of Radnor Township.

“You never know what people are going to do,” he said.

The suspect got stuck in the drain pipe while fleeing police.

According to Radnor police:

First responders put air in the pipe immediately to ventilate the space. Rescuers entered the pipe, and were able to extricate the man.

Montgomery County Special Task Force and firefighters from Lower Merion and Radnor townships assisted in rescuing the suspect.

Conestoga Road between Montrose Avenue and Callahan Avenue was closed to motorists for two hours.

Lower Merion police are following up on the investigation.
