Villanova University Covid Cases More Than Double In 8 Days
Villanova U reports cases are up to 54, from 24 on Aug. 31, as cases remain divided between on-campus and off-campus students.
VILLANOVA, PA — Villanova University reported five new cases of COVID-19 yesterday, in a case climb that more than doubled in the last 8 days, according to the university's Covid Campus Dashboard.
Total cases in the campus community were up to 54 since Aug. 31, and when the total cases of COVID-19 was 24. On Aug. 31 the cases were equally split among on-campus and off-campus students, with no university employee cases reported.
On Sept. 8 the university reported on-campus cases had exactly doubled, from 12 to 24 over the last 8 days. Off-campus student cases went from 12 to 30 in that time.

Of the 54 cases reported, the university says that 20 are considered recovered, and 34 remain active cases.
Between 16 and 9 percent of the university's isolation beds designated for quarantine and isolation have been in use. If a student or other campus community member tests positive for Covid-19, they must monitor their symptoms while they stay at home or isolate on campus for 10 days.

Villanova University persons who have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for Covid-19 must quarantine at home or in campus isolation for 14 days, as they monitor for symptoms.
Villanova also said it is committed to transparency as it communicates information pertaining to COVID-19. The university said its dashboard is "a source of information for members of our community to remain updated on the most accurate COVID-19 data related to our campus."
Villanova University's undergraduate population is just under 7,000 students, its total enrollment about 11,000.
COVID-19 case numbers at Temple University last week resulted in a decision to suspend in-person classes.
