Back-to-School and Big Lottery Jackpot Top Week Ahead

The final walk-through tours at Salisbury Township's Swain School will be Wednesday and the Salisbury High School football team opens its season Friday night.

The last week in August means it's back-to-school time in Salisbury Township. Students will return to classes this week, so drivers should watch out for school buses!

  • The first day for incoming freshmen and students who are new to Salisbury High School is Monday from 7:35 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. On orientation day, students should report directly to his or her advisory no later than 7:35 a.m.
  • Kindergarten and first grade orientation takes place Monday at Western Salisbury Elementary School and Harry S. Truman Elementary School.
  • Classes for all Salisbury School District students begin Tuesday.
  • The Salisbury School District is closed Friday for the Labor Day holiday weekend.
  • The Pennsylvania Lottery’s Match 6 Lotto jackpot keeps rolling ever higher into record territory. The jackpot for Monday's drawing has grown to $4.3 million, the game’s third-largest jackpot on record. The current jackpot run started after one ticket matched all six winning numbers in the May 13 drawing.
  • The final Walk-in Wednesday of August is scheduled this Wednesday at The Swain School, located at 1100 S. 24th Street in Salisbury Township. Stop by any time between 8:30 a.m.-2:00 p.m. on any Wednesday in August  and get a personal tour and a first-hand look at the school. No appointment necessary.
  • The Salisbury High School football team opens the season Friday night when it travels to Bangor for a 7 p.m. Colonial League game.
