It's Girl Scout Cookie Time

Girl Scout cookies are on sale again for $3.50 a box, plus you can send a box to soldiers serving overseas in the Cookies from Home project.

It's that time of year again when from across our region are selling their famous cookies at local businesses in Salisbury Township.

While some areas across the country have raised the price of their cookies, Girl Scouts of Eastern Pennsylvania was able to keep the local sale price at $3.50 per box. The cookies available in this region this year are the ever-popular Thin Mints as well as Peanut Butter Patties, Shout Outs!, Thanks-A-Lot, Lemonades, Shortbread, Caramel deLites and the Peanut Butter Sandwich. Girl Scout Cookies will be on sale through March 4.

The first Girl Scout cookie sale was in 1917 when a troop of girls baked shortbread cookies to earn money to pay for their community service projects, according to the Girls Scouts of the United States America. Today, the girls no longer bake the cookies, but they proceeds from their cookie sales are still used to pay for educational programs and local community service projects.
