Musikfest, Das Awkscht Fest Highlight This Weekend's Events

Take in a show Pines Dinner Theater, see "Grossology" at DaVinci Science Center or visit the Allentown Art Museum for free.


Summer is going by faster than we'd like, as we're now already into the first week of August. So, go out there and enjoy the mostly good weatherforecasted by the National Weather Service.

Here's your Weekend Planner for events in and around Salisbury Township  this weekend:

  • If it's August, Musikfest is back in the Lehigh Valley. There are more than 300 free shows during the festival. Featured performers this weekend are Carly Rae Jepsen on Friday; OneRepublic with Mayer Hawthorne and Churchill on Saturdayand Skillet, We As Human, Decyfer Down, Thousand Foot Krutch on Sunday.   • Das Awkscht Fescht returns for its annual run this weekend at Macungie Memorial Park Friday through Sunday. Gates open at 6 a.m. for walk-in visitors. The flea market runs through dusk, and arts & crafts vendors are open until 9 p.m. Classic cars are on display each day. Entertainment run until 10:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and until 4:30 p.m. on Sunday. Fireworks are on tap Saturday night at 9:30 p.m. Admission is $7 for adults and $2 for age 15 and under.

  • The Pines Dinner Theatre in Allentown presents "Footlose, The Musical," this weekend. Dinner is at 6:30 p.m. with the show starting at 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. On Sunday, dinner is at 12:30 p.m. with the show starting at 2 p.m. 
  • The Molten Lounge at Sands Bethlehem presents musical acts all weekend long. Shorty Long & the Jersey Horns take the stage Friday at 9:30 p.m. Digital Getdown entertains Saturday at 9:30 p.m. The Back2 Life Band plays Sunday at 8 p.m.
  • The Lehigh Valley Zoo in nearby Schnecksville is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday.
  • Everybody likes free. The Allentown Art Museum is free to all visitors every Sunday. Hours Sunday are noon to 4 p.m.
  • Like to cook? The deadline for entering the Clover Hill Vineyard & Winery "Cooking with Wine Lasagna," contest at the Great Allentown Fair is this Saturday.  To get started and learn more details just download the entry form. You can also learn more details at http://www.allentownfairpa.org/
