Five Suspects in Custody After Fleeing Alleged Drugstore Robberies

Salisbury Township police helped capture five suspects who fled after allegedly robbing two drugstores in South Allentown around 1:30 p.m. Friday, an official said.

4 p.m. update: Salisbury Township police helped capture five people Friday after receiving reports the suspects may have fled in a vehicle after stealing items from the Walgreens at 1855 S. 5th St. and the CVS at S. 4th St. and Emmaus Avenue, according to Allentown Police Captain Keith Morris.

When Salisbury police attempted to stop the vehicle, some of the suspects fled on foot but were later apprehended, Morris said.

Police have the alleged getaway vehicle, he said.

A sixth person is being questioned, Morris said.

"The investigation is ongoing," Morris said. "This entire thing is unfolding as we speak."

Original report: Allentown  police captured two suspects who fled after robbing a business on E. Emmaus Avenue shortly after 1:30 p.m. Friday, according to a Breaking News Network bulletin.

The suspects were arrested and taken into custody after "a bail out," presumably from a vehicle, and a short foot chase, the bulletin said.
