Salisbury Grad Eric Tatum Enters West Point

Eric Tatum, who graduated Salisbury High School in June, recently completed Cadet Basic Training at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.


Salisbury High School graduate Eric Sean Tatum, the son of Diane Roberts and Sam Tatum of Allentown, recently completed six weeks of Cadet Basic Training at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y.
 
Tatum, who graduated from Salisbury High School in June, entered West Point on July 1 successfully completed one the most challenging events a cadet will encounter over the course of their four years at the academy.                        
The initial military training program provides cadets with basic skills to instill discipline, pride, cohesion, confidence and a high sense of duty to prepare them for entry into the Corps of Cadets.  Areas of summer instruction included first aid, mountaineering, hand grenades, rifle marksmanship and nuclear, biological, and chemical training.    

Tatum began classes Aug. 19 and is a member of the NCAA Division 1 Army Swimming team, under the direction of coach Mickie Wender.    

Tatum plans to graduate from West Point in 2017 and be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the U.S. Army.
