Salisbury Patch: How to Post a Free Calendar Event
Have an event you'd like to let people know about? Here's how Salisbury Patch can help.
Are you organizing a yard sale? Maybe you’re a member of a local book club that's seeking new members. Or perhaps you're a volunteer for an organization that's planning a fundraiser.
Whatever activities you participate in, you are invited to post events to the Salisbury Patch calendar free of charge!* When you post an event you not only have creative liberty, but you can also access it in the future if you need to make additions or changes.
First things first: you’ll need to log into your Salisbury Patch account. Don’t have one yet? Go to Log In at the top of the page. It's free and it's easy!

Once you’re logged in, navigate to the calendar. You can do this by clicking on the "Events" tab under the Salisbury Patch logo at the top of the home page. On the right-hand side of the calendar page you’ll see a green box with a white plus sign that says, “Put it on the calendar!” Click on this box to go to the event form, which includes blank fields for you to fill in.
Start by giving your event a title. Be descriptive, but remember that character space is limited, so shorter titles like “Library Bake Sale Fundraiser” or “Mom’s Group Family Fun Day” are generally better.

Next, move on to date and time. If your event occurs more than once or is ongoing, check the box labeled "This event happens more than once or is an ongoing event." If your event doesn’t have a specific time, or if it has more than one time, you can leave the "Time" field blank. If your event does not occur more than once, you can skip the next step.
If you have an event that repeats every week or every month, or is ongoing for a certain length of time, choose your option and then enter the ending date if there is one. If your event occurs on a monthly basis, don’t choose “Every month” unless it happens every month on the same day (e.g., March 1, April 1, May 1, etc.). Instead, select “Choose my own repeating dates” and enter as many dates as you know. You can post up to 15 months of dates at once.
Now you’re ready to select a location for your event. If it will occur at a business or public place in Salisbury Township, there’s a good chance it’s already listed in our directory, called Places. Search the name of your location, i.e. or . If the location does not come up you’ll have to type in the address and then select it when it comes up in the list below the field. You can click “Add details” to give your location a name. Also remember that many Salisbury mailing addresses use Allentown, Emmaus, Bethlehem or Fountain Hill, so search accordingly.
The meat-and-potatoes of your calendar listing is its description, and that's what you'll need to enter next. What’s happening at the event? Why is it of interest to the community? Be as descriptive as possible and include all relevant details.
If you have a photo or PDF to upload you’ll add that next. Click “Choose files to upload” and then browse your computer for your file. You may add a caption, but it’s not required. (Note: Copyright laws apply, so please only use images you have ownership of.)
Next, you’re going to categorize your event. You can choose more than one category from the list, but you must choose at least one category.
The last section is for more information and will help Patch readers get in touch with you (or another contact person) if necessary, via a website, telephone or e-mail. Important: If there is an admission fee for your event, this is the place to list the amount. And if your event requires tickets, you can also include a link to a ticket website.
Review your listing, make sure all the information is correct and that you’ve filled in any required field, which is marked with the * symbol. If you’re happy with the information, click “Post My Event.”
The next page you’ll see is your event listing, posted live on Salisbury Patch!
