
A fifth grader and a fourth grader will represent Quaker Valley’s elementary schools at the 63rd Annual Western Pennsylvania Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 23, at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh.
Scarlett Hudson, a fifth grader at Edgeworth Elementary, and Logan Eger, a fourth grader from Osborne Elementary, recently won the Scripps National Spelling Bee School-Wide Championship at their respective schools.
Both schools conducted an in-class preliminary challenge to determine the top contestants, who advanced to the school-level bee.

The following Edgeworth Elementary advanced to the school-level bee: Scarlett Hudson (champion), Austin Gatesman (second place), Rebecca Graham (third place), Alessia Burns, Alex Gramc, Jordan Iwaskewycz, Alexander Johnson, Colm Lang, Lydia Levesque, Eli Loewy, Sydney Loewy, T.J. McCloskey, Colter Merkel, Bobby Patterson, Grace Pawloski, Hank Plummer, Jill Pollon, Haley Steffey, Paul Szuba, Jillian Umstead and Nathaniel Whalen.Â

The winner of the Western Pennsylvania Spelling Bee will compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee from May 26 to June 1 in Washington, D.C.
