Glen Osborne Resident, Former School Director Seeks Seat on Quaker Valley School Board

Mary Ann Wagner, 71, of Glen Osborne, previously served for 12 years on the Quaker Valley School Board.

She is currently serves on the district's Public Budget Committee, a group of about 25 to 30 local taxpayers.

Wagner, who is retired, is a former sales representative for L'Oreal Paris and U.S. Steel. She was also a credit analyst for U.S. Steel.

Her interests include antiques and she is a volunteer at Pittsburgh's Hidden Treasures held each year at Heinz History Center. She also enjoys playing Bridge.

Here is Wagner's statement announcing the reasons for her candidacy:

"My goal as a school director is to be involved in the district's finances.  My 12 years experience as a School Director  (vice president of the school board)  is extremely valuable in that I know how the district works and am familiar with the entire budget process.  

Because residents of Quaker Valley pay the public school bills, I am committed to providing a first-class education for our students at a reasonable cost.  

Most of Quaker Valley's funding is from local taxes; we receive very little from the state and federal government. Therefore, it is in our best interests to keep our costs 'reasonable.' I can assure you that I will NEVER vote for a millage increase."
