Update: Accident Shuts Down Two-Mile Stretch of Route 222
Report says car and tractor trailer collided.

Update at 11:30 a.m.
Berks-Lehigh Regional Police are investigating a three-vehicle accident that shut down Route 222 (Hamilton Boulevard) for a time Monday morning.
Police say at about 7:43 a.m., a tractor trailer heading eastbound struck an SUV heading in the same direction. The SUV veered into the oncoming lane of traffic, police said, where it struck a sedan head on.

Police said the 55-year-old male driving the SUV was not injured.
A 34-year-old Breinigsville woman driving the SUV and a 23-year-old female from Mars driving the sedan were taken to Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest with unknown injuries.

Police are still investigating the accident and ask any witnesses to call them at 610-683-8740.
Earlier: A report on WFMZ.com said one person is seriously hurt in a traffic accident this morning in Upper Macungie Township.
The report states the accident occurred on Route 222 and Newtown Road at approximately 7:45 a.m.
The report states that Route 222 is closed between Newtown and Schantz Roads, which is approximately a two-mile backup.
