Lukoil to Reopen and Sell Fried Chicken

The new owners of the renovated Lukoil station in South Whitehall got permission to add a kitchen to make fried chicken and other food.

The new owners of the vacant Lukoil gas station and convenience store at Cedar Crest Boulevard and Washington Street in South Whitehall plan to sell fried chicken and other food after they finish renovations to the building, their attorney said.

The South Whitehall Township Board of Commissioners gave permission Wednesday to owners Jankkumar Patel and Hemlataben Patel, of Smeha, LLC. to build an 8-foot-by-10-foot addition for a kitchen to the rear of the building at 741 N. Cedar Crest Blvd.

"He needs a little bit more space to fry the chicken because his kitchen is a little bit larger than would otherwise be in a convenience store that's just used for machines you throw hotdogs on," said their attorney Erich J. Schock.

The owners were given permission by the zoning hearing board to convert the service bays to a convenience store, Schock said.

The owners will remove 200 square feet of macadam on the south side of the lot next to McDonald's and add shrubbery, Schock said.
