Parkland Girls Explore STEM Careers

Lehigh Career & Technical Institute held an exploratory event for 9th grade girls who have strong math or science skills.

As part of a yearlong effort to make students aware of job possibilities and careers, Lehigh Career & Technical Institute recently held an exploratory event for girls in ninth grade who are interesting in engineering careers or who have strong math or science skills.

Careers in STEM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, are in high demand, according to a news release.

The keynote speaker was Elizabeth Rothwell, a biomedical engineer and president of VFD Technologies companies, Choice Precision, Inc., and UKM Transit Products.

Students who attended were from the following high schools: Dieruff and William Allen; Parkland; Salisbury and Whitehall.
