School Board, Township Commissioners Meet: Your Week
Also, knitting circle and adult book discussion groups meet at library, Jeb Bush and Il Divo visit Bethlehem.

It’s time for our weekly look at what’s going on in South Whitehall Township and nearby this week.
- The Parkland School District will hold a forum for elementary school parents Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the Parkway Manor School. Curriculum and Instruction Director Kelly Rosario will present an overview of the state's Core Standards and Standards Based Instruction.
- Former Florida governor and potential 2016 GOP presidential contender Jeb Bush visits the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks Monday night for a conversation on immigration and other issues. Bush is the author of Immigration Wars: Forging an American Solution. Hear what he proposes at an 8 p.m. talk in the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas. Tickets are $10, $8 for students and seniors and free for ArtsQuest members.
- The Parkland School Board meets Tuesday, with a workshop scheduled for 7 p.m. and the regular meeting for 8 p.m.
- Operatic pop vocal group Il Divo visits the Sands Bethlehem Event Center at 8 p.m. Tuesday. The world’s first and still the best classical crossover group – Urs Buhler, Carlos Marin, David Miller and Sebastien Izambard – have sold over 26 million albums, enjoyed over 50 number ones, chalked up 160 gold and platinum sales in over 33 countries. Tickets are from $69.50 to $150.
- The Parkland Community Library adult book group meets Wednesday at 7 p.m. to discuss Killing Lincoln by Bill O'Reilly.
- South Whitehall Township Commissioners meet in a regular session at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday in the township municipal building.
- The Parkland Community Advisory Council meets Thursday at 7 p.m. at the administration center. The topic:Â "School Safety Initiatives and Updates for the 2013-14 School Year."
- The Parkland Community Library's Knitting Circle meets Thursday at 1:30 p.m. at the library. Open to knitters of all ages and skill levels.
