Chesco Lawmaker: “PA Needs Laws For Responsible Gun Ownership"
State Rep. Melissa Shusterman has introduced three bills to stop gun violence
TREDYFFRIN TWP, PA — State Rep. Melissa L. Shusterman, a Chester County Democrat, said gun violence across the nation, including the May 24 killing of 19 innocent children and two teachers in Uvalde, Texas, must stop.
Shusterman said that after each heartbreaking and unnecessary tragedy she is asked what she can do about it.
“My response,” she said. “I am doing everything I can.”

Shusterman notified her constituents in a newsletter that she is working to prevent tragedies like the Texas massacre from happening in Pennsylvania.
“There are elected officials who do care and do act so tragedies like these do not keep happening," Shusterman said.

Shusterman said she has introduced these proposed laws:
- Requiring a semi-automatic assault rifle safety certification course and completion before purchasing an assault rifle.
- Prohibiting the sale of semi-automatic assault rifles of holding more than five rounds of ammunition for anyone under age 21.
- Ban 3D printed guns in Pennsylvania. These ghost guns came be bought without a background check and assembled at home. They are untraceable.
