New Chesterbrook Co, Could be Rx for Growth

"Tredyffrin is open for business!"

That's the message Tredyffrin Township Supervisors Chairwoman, Vice Chair, Township Manager and Planning Director brought as they welcomed Auxilium Pharmaceuticals to the company's new home in Chesterbrook.

The company moved in to its new 70,000 square foot headquarters on January 2.  The company celebrated its new home with a ceremonial ribbon cutting Wednesday at the completely renovated office building at 640 Lee Road in Chesterbrook.

Quick action led to company's quick move to Tredyffrin

The company first expressed an interest in moving from its old Great Valley location back in September. By the end of December the building was ready and Tredyffrin had attracted a new corporate resident with 160 employees. Tredyffrin Board of Supervisors Chair Michelle Kichline welcomed Auxilium telling the pharmaceutical company's employees, top executives, and board of directors that Tredyffrin Township was thrilled to work the company to get necessary permits and inspections completed quickly. The message to other companies is that Tredyffrin is "open for business" and ready to work with other companies who may want to move here.

Auxilium currently has two pharmaceutical products on the market and several more in well into the development/testing stage.

A company spokesman descibes Auxiium as "a specialty PA-based biopharmaceutical company at just under $1B market cap with two products on the market:  XIAFLEX®, a biologic for the non-surgical treatment of Dupuytren’s contracture and Testim®, a testosterone gel for the treatment of male hypogonadism."

Translated into layman's terms  XIAFLEX® has a protein that non-surgically “cuts” a collagen cord under the skin that can pull a finger into the palm of the hand.  Testim® is a drug to increase testosterone levels in adult men with low testosterone levels.
