New Information in Girl Scout Cookie Robbery

Tredyffrin Police release brave fourth grade heroes who fought back.

Tredyffrin Police have new information about the man who robbed fourth grade Girl Scouts at their cookie sale table inside the entranceway of the Pathmark on Swedesford Road in Berwyn Sunday night.

According to police the man, believed to be in his 20s, got  away with $20 in cookie money and a still undetermined amount from a collection can for veterans. It's not the amount of money, it's the way he got it that elevated a misdemeanor theft to a felony robbery.

Because the man struggle briefly with at least one of the fourth grade girls, the case is classified as a robbery.

On Sunday, January 20th, 2013 at approx. 5 PM, Tredyffrin Twp. Police responded to the Pathmark Store, 450 W. Swedesford Rd., in the Berwyn section of the Twp., for a reported strong armed robbery. Officers discovered that a white male, 20’s-30 years of age, medium height and weight, wearing a dark colored head covering, dark colored shirt and light colored pants, approached members of Girl Scout Troop 4305 at their table set up for cookie sales.

The unidentified male took an undetermined amount of US currency from a plastic donation container collected for United States Military Service People. The subject then forcibly reached into a cash box containing money from the sales of the Girl Scout cookies and stole approx. twenty ($20) dollars in currency.

The quick actions of the Girl Scouts in closing the box, denied the actor further access to the monies. The unidentified actor then fled to the rear/west side of building wherein he entered a blue vehicle and left the parking lot.

Detectives and patrol are actively working the case. Anyone having information pertinent to this case is asked to contact the Tredyffrin Twp. Police Department at 610-647-1440.
