4 Seek Parkland School Board Seats

Four candidates, including three incumbents, seek four seats on the Parkland School Board. Jayne Bartlett, an Upper Macungie resident, is not seeking re-election.

Three incumbents and one newcomer are seeking four seats on the Parkland School Board.

Seeking re-election to the board, according to an unofficial list from the Lehigh County voter regisration office, are:

  • Mark A. Hanichak, Republican
  • Barry Long, Republican
  • Robert M. Cohen, Democrat

an Upper Macungie resident who has served since 2001, is not seeking re-election.

Also running in the May 21 primary is:

  • David J. Hein, a Republican, who is on the district's Community Advisory Council

All four candidates for the school board have cross-filed, meaning they will appear on both the Democratic and Republican ballots.

The Parkland School District includes South Whitehall, North Whitehall and Upper Macungie townships, and part of Allentown (17th Ward, 4th District and 18th Ward, 2nd District).

Board seats are four-year terms.
