Allentown Man Charged With Stealing Car in Upper Macungie

Court records say Matthew Schaffer, 28, of Allentown was charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle.

An Allentown man is in Lehigh County Prison on charges that he stole a car in Upper Macungie on May 31, according to online court records.

The records indicate Matthew Schaffer, 28, of Allentown was charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and unauthorized use of a motor vehicle. The first two charges are Grade 3 felonies, while the third is a second-degree misdemeanor.

Police say, according to a Morning Call report, that Schaffer stole a 2002 Audi from a driveway on Bastian Lane on May 31. The car was later found on Green Street, where Schaffer lived.

Schaffer was arraigned Aug. 9 by District Judge Michael Faulkner and remanded to Lehigh County Prison in lieu of $30,000 bail, according to online court records.
