Angling To Catch Some Trout?

The ponds at Apple Park in Fogelsville are stocked and ready.

Local fisherman angling to catch some trout have their tackle boxes, rods and reels at the ready for Saturday's much-anticipated season-opener. And Upper Macungie residents won't have far to travel to cast their lines in the water in search of that elusive catch.

Upper Macungie Township officials confirmed that the ponds at were fully stocked with trout Friday morning. Apple Park is located at 1935 Apple Rd. in Fogelsville.

However, prior to heading out, several state rules and regulations must be followed before you can bait that hook or rig that lure.

A regular state fishing license costs $22.70, but if you want to catch trout, the cost is an additional $9.70 for a trout stamp.

Here are the full list of rules and regulations concerning trout fishing season from the Pennsylvania Fish & Boat Commission website.

And, according to the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, other approved trout waters in Lehigh County include Cedar Creek (Lake Muhlenberg outflow downstream to mouth), Coplay Creek, Jordan Creek, Kistler Creek, Laurel Run (South Branch Saucon Creek), Lehigh Canal ( from first lock upstream of Monocacy Creek Crossing), Little Lehigh Creek, Monocacy Creek, Ontelaunee Creek, Swabia Creek, Switzer Creek and Trout Creek (Big Trout Creek-Slatington)
