Bike Races, Free Movie Top Upper Mac Weekend Events

Another August weekend is upon us. It's time to get out and enjoy it, before summer quickly comes to an end.

Here's the local weather forecast for the weekend, from the National Weather Service.

• The Valley Preferred Cycling Center, located at 1151 Mosser Road in Breinigsville, features Masters & Rookie races beginning at noon. Registration begins at 10:30 a.m.

• The summer's final installment of Movies-in-the-Park originally scheduled for Friday was postponed and is now set for Saturday at Breinigsville Park with a screening of "The Pirates: Band of Misfits." Bring your own lawn chair and/or blanket. Activities for kids will begin at 7 p.m. and the movie starts at dusk. Refreshments will be available.

• The Parkland Community Library will hold the final day if its 23rd annual Book Sale Saturday at the Asbury Methodist Church, 1533 Springhouse Rd, Allentown. Saturday hours are 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The event is sponsored by Friends of the Parkland Community Library.

• It's the final weekend of Musikfest in Bethlehem. Featured acts this weekend are Ke$ha on Saturday night and Avenged Sevenfold on Sunday. • A Computer Basics Internet Skills class will be held at Parkland Community Library, located at 4422 Walbert Ave. in Allentown on Saturday at 9 a.m. Call 610-398-1361 for details.

• The nearby Lehigh Valley Zoo in Schnecksville is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. 

• There's entertainment all weekend long at the Molten Lounge in Sands Bethlehem. On Saturday,Pete Moss & The Fertilizers take the stage at 9:30 p.m. On Sunday, Jimmy and the Parrots entertain beginning at 8 p.m.

• The Terry Hill Water Park, located at 10000 Hamilton Boulevard in Breinigsville, is open from swimming Saturday and Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.

• The Da Vinci Science Center in Allentown again features its"Grossology," exhibit. Saturday hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday hours are from noon to 5 p.m. Prices are $11.95 for adults, $9.95 for children 4 to 12 and $9.95 for seniors and military personnel.

• Kids hungry? Fill 'em up Sunday at the Buckeye Tavern, located at 3741 Brookside Road in Macungie. Kids eat free all day Sunday.
